Hong Kong, as the "Asia's World City", has tens of millions of visitors each year visiting the famous attractions. Visitors can experience Hong Kong differently in day and night time. During Day time, theme parks such as Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland are suitable for families. Hong Kong's night view is renowned, in addition to A Symphony of Lights, which is a daily light and sound show, visitors can enjoy the Victoria Harbor and the landmark high-rise buildings by taking a sightseeing boat or riding on the Peak Tram to the Peak. Hong Kong is also a famous shopping paradise; visitors can buy numerous economical Chinese culture souvenirs, which are made in China or Hong Kong in a so called Lady’s market. Luxury goods can be found in department stores or shopping malls in different districts such as IFC, Pacific Place, Landmark, Ocean terminal, Harbor City. Currency: The legal tender of Hong Kong is Hong Kong Dollar (HK$). Find more on Hong Kong’s coins and banknotes here.


Electricity and voltage: Hong Kong’s standard voltage is 220 volts AC, 50Hz (with most hotel bathrooms also offering outlets for 100 volts). The city’s majority of electrical points take a three-pronged square plug (the same as the type used in the United Kingdom). Inexpensive adaptors are readily available from most convenience stores.


Wi-Fi: Free and fast Wi-Fi is readily available throughout Hong Kong.

Octopus Card: Removing the frustrating need to fumble for foreign currency when navigating international transport. With the exception of taxis, each of Hong Kong’s transport services can be paid for with a single Octopus card. – a stored-value electronic card that can be used and topped up at convenience stores, supermarkets, fast food shops, vending machines, and more. Octopus cards are available at all MTR Stations.
